Google Analytics Hit Data Extractor

Google Analytics Standard is a free service provided by Google. Of course, it will have many limitations. Even though technically you can extract data out of Google Analytics there are few problems.

1. You need to build a custom solution using Google Analytics APIs to export data
2. The event/hit data exported from Google Analytics does not provide a Unique Visitor Id, hence the data cannot be integrated with other omnichannel marketing data sources such as Mailchimp, Shopify and other CRM systems. .

Google Analytics Hit Data Extractor by Electrik.AI is designed to export hit level data from Google Analytics and load it in files or database.

Step 1: Ensure you have following prerequisites to create a Google Analytics Connection in Electrik.AI

a. Access to Google Analytics Account.

b. Google Analytics Account User Id and Password.

c. Google Analytics Property Id; View Id details.

d. Google Analytics Tag manager account and Tag container details.

Step 2: Sign-in into your Electrik.AI account

Step 3: Select IO in Electrik.AI dashboard

Step 4: Select the Connections tab in the left most panel.

Step 5: The Source default tab is selected just click on “Google Analytics v3-Hit Level Data” connection.

Step 6: Choose the option that you are currently using with your Google Analytics.

Step 7: Provide your Google Analytics account User Id and Password.

Step 8:  Allow Electrik.AI to access your Google Analytics account. Access permission for Google Tag Manager option.

Step 9: Select the Google Analytics Account details from the dropdown whose data you wish to export.

Select Advanced Setting Checkbox if you wish to edit the default Session timeout settings.

Step 10: Click on Save button on the top.

Congratulations, you have successfully created a Google Analytics Connection using Google Tag Manager in Electrik.AI.

Step 8: Allow Electrik.AI to access your Google Analytics account. Access permission for G Tag option.

Step 9: Select the Google Analytics Account details from the dropdown whose data you wish to export.

Select Advanced Setting Checkbox if you wish to edit the default Session timeout settings.

Step 10: Click on Save button on the top.

Congratulations, you have successfully created a Google Analytics Connection using GTag option in Electrik.AI

Step 11: Add this script to header/footer/body tag of your Website URL to complete the setup. This script will capture hit level data from your website and send it to Google Analytics.

Electrik.AI supports the following databases and Cloud Storage to extract Google Analytics Data. A destination is required to extract data from various marketing data sources using Electrik.AI

Electrik.AI creates a data flow (or ETL process) that exports Google Analytics data to a target database or data warehouse or cloud storage. This process runs daily at scheduled time and exports data for the previous day.

Step 1: Ensure you have the following prerequisites.

1. Access to Google Analytics Account.
2. Google Analytics Account User Id and Password.
3. Google Analytics Property Id; View Id details.
4. Google Analytics Tag manager account and Tag container details.
5. Access to destination of your choice.
6. Database Connection Details such as Host, Port, DB Name, DB User, DB Password in case you wish to extract to Database.
7. Cloud storage Account User Id and Password in case you wish to extract your data in a file.

Step 2: Sign-in into your Electrik.AI account

Step 3: Select IO in Electrik.AI dashboard

Step 4: Click on Add button to create a Google Analytics Hit Data Extractor Flow.

Step 5: Select Google Analytics Connection present in the list of available source.

Step 6: Select your existing Google Analytics connection in Electrik.AI.

Step 7: Click on a destination of your choice from list of available destinations.
In this example we are choosing Amazon S3.

Step 8: Select your existing Amazon S3 connection in Electrik.AI.

Step 9:
a. Review the Data Source, Data Destination
b. Default File Path/Name is provided, you can provide any name of your choice.
c. You can click here for more information on possible file naming conventions.
d. Click to choose File Separator type between CSV and TAB.
e. Select the Bucket where you wish to load the file.
f. Provide Success Notification Email, Failure Notification Email.
g. Click “Save and Proceed” to continue.

Success Notification Email: Enter a valid Email ID to receive the Flow Success Email Notification.
Failure Notification Email: Enter a valid Email ID to receive the Flow Failure Email Notification.
Note: By Default, Electrik.AI uses the signed-in user’s Email Id.

Step 10: Congratulations, Flow is created. Please wait while you are redirected to Flow Details Screen.

You have now successfully setup Google Analytics Performance Report to Amazon S3 flow in Electrik.AI.

Your Google Analytics data will start loading after 24 hours in your Amazon S3 Bucket.

How to remove EAI JavaScripts?

Ensure you have access to Google Tag Manager. Follow the steps below to delete the JavaScript:

1. In the Google Tag Manager, on the left-hand side panel, Select “Variables”.

2. Under “User-Defined Variables” select “EAI GA Settings” & “EAI_HitType” and click Delete.

3. On the left-hand side panel again Navigate to “Triggers”. Select “EAI_DOM_Ready” and click Delete.

4. Finally, navigate to “Tags”. Select “EAI Universal Analytics” and click Delete.
